Here's the essence:

• Be real. 142 is for your actual relationships, not a stage.
• Be kind. Treat the people here the way you'd treat them in your living room.
• Keep people safe. No violence, no abuse, no exploitation, and absolutely zero tolerance for any content that harms children.
• Respect privacy. Don't share things about other people that aren't yours to share.
• Keep it honest. No scams, no impersonation, no manipulation.

If you break these rules, we may remove content, restrict your account, or close it, and you can appeal. The full detail is below, and it's worth reading. These Guidelines apply to everything on 142: posts, comments, messages, calendar entries, profile information, and how you behave towards others.

142 Community Guidelines

1. Why These Guidelines Exist

Most social media is engineered to keep you scrolling, to turn your attention into someone else's profit. 142 is built on the opposite idea. We cap your connections at 142, we don't run an algorithm, we don't show ads, and we delete the noise. The whole point is to give you a healthier, quieter, more genuine way to stay close to the people who matter.

That only works if everyone here helps protect it. These Community Guidelines are the shared agreement that keeps 142 a place worth being. They sit alongside our Terms of Service: breaking these Guidelines is a breach of those Terms.

These Guidelines apply to all content and behaviour on 142, whether it's public to your connections, shared in a group, or sent in a private message.

2. The Spirit of 142

Before the rules, here's what we're actually trying to build. When you're not sure whether something belongs on 142, come back to these:

• 142 is for your people. The folks you'd invite to dinner, not an audience you're performing for.
• There's no scoreboard here. No follower counts, no viral moments, no algorithm deciding who matters. Don't try to game something that doesn't exist.
• Presence over performance. Share your actual life, not a highlight reel built for strangers.
• Treat people like people. Everyone on 142 is someone's friend, partner, sibling, or parent. Behave accordingly.

If a post feels more like performing for an audience than sharing with the people who matter, it probably doesn't belong on 142.

3. Keeping It Real (Authenticity)

• Be yourself. Don't impersonate other people, brands, or organisations, and don't set up accounts pretending to be someone you're not.
• One real you. Don't create accounts to evade a ban, or run networks of fake accounts.
• Don't manipulate the Service. Don't use bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with 142 or other users.

Why this matters: 142 only works if the people you're connected to are really who they say they are.

4. Keeping People Safe

This is the part that matters most. The following are not allowed on 142, ever.

4.1 Violence and Threats

• Don't threaten, encourage, or incite violence against anyone.
• Don't post content that glorifies, promotes, or provides instructions for violence or serious harm.
• Don't share content created by, or in support of, terrorist or violent extremist organisations.

4.2 Child Safety: Zero Tolerance

142 is an 18+ service, and we have absolutely zero tolerance for any content that sexualises, exploits, or endangers children.

• We strictly prohibit any child sexual abuse material (CSAM), in any form.
• We prohibit any content or behaviour that grooms, solicits, or endangers a minor.
• When we detect or receive a report of child sexual abuse material, we act immediately: we remove the content, ban the accounts involved, preserve the relevant evidence, and report it to the National Crime Agency. We cooperate fully with investigations.
• There is no appeal for removal on this basis, and accounts involved are permanently banned and reported.

If you encounter anything of this nature on 142, report it immediately using the in-app tool or email legal@142.social.

4.3 Self-Harm and Suicide

We care about your wellbeing, it's the reason 142 exists. But that means we won't allow content that could put you or others at risk.

• Don't post content that encourages, promotes, or provides instructions for suicide or self-harm, including disordered eating.
• Don't share graphic content depicting self-harm.

If you're struggling, please reach out to someone you trust or a support service. In the UK, you can call Samaritans free on 116 123, any time. If you're outside the UK, your local emergency services or a crisis line can help. You're not alone, and 142 is a place to lean on the people who care about you.

4.4 Dangerous Acts

• Don't use 142 to organise, promote, or encourage dangerous challenges, stunts, or activities that could lead to serious injury.
• Don't put yourself or others at risk to capture content (see ToS section 10).

Why this matters: nothing on 142 is worth anyone getting hurt.

5. Treating Each Other Well

5.1 Harassment and Bullying

• Don't harass, bully, intimidate, or target anyone with abuse.
• Don't engage in coordinated harassment or encourage others to pile on.
• Don't send unwanted, repeated, or threatening messages.

5.2 Hate Speech

• Don't attack, dehumanise, or incite hatred against people based on protected characteristics, including race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, disease, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, or age.
• Don't use slurs or hateful imagery.

5.3 Respecting Privacy

• Don't share private or identifying information about other people without their consent (sometimes called "doxxing"), addresses, phone numbers, financial details, and so on.
• Don't share intimate images of anyone without their consent. Non-consensual intimate imagery is a serious violation and may be a criminal offence.
• Don't record, screenshot, and re-share others' private content in ways that betray their trust. (Remember: just because you *can* save something doesn't mean you should share it.)

Why this matters: 142 is meant to be a place where people can be open with each other. That trust is fragile, and we protect it seriously.

6. Adult Content and Nudity

142 is not a platform for nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit content.

• Don't post nudity, pornography, or sexually explicit content.
• Don't use 142 for commercial sexual services or solicitation.

Why this matters: 142 is built around your real relationships, partners, family, close friends. Keeping this content off the platform keeps it a place you'd be comfortable sharing with any of them, and keeps everyone clear on where the line is.

7. Illegal and Regulated Goods and Activities

• Don't use 142 to buy, sell, trade, or facilitate illegal goods or services.
• Don't promote or facilitate the sale of regulated goods like drugs, weapons, or other controlled items.
• Don't use 142 to commit or coordinate any crime.

8. Spam, Scams and Deception

• Don't send spam, unsolicited bulk messages, repetitive content, or junk.
• Don't run scams, phishing attempts, fraud, or pyramid/ponzi schemes.
• Don't post deceptive links or try to trick people into giving up personal information or money.
• Don't spread harmful misinformation that could cause real-world harm (for example, dangerous health misinformation).

Why this matters: with no algorithm and no ads, 142 should be one of the few places online free of this stuff. Help us keep it that way.

9. Respecting Intellectual Property

• Only post content you created or have permission to use.
• Don't infringe anyone else's copyright, trade marks, or other intellectual property rights.

10. How We Enforce These Guidelines

We'd always rather help people get it right than punish them. But when content or behaviour breaks these Guidelines, we'll act. Depending on what's happened, and how serious, frequent, and deliberate it is, we may:

• remove the content;
• limit the visibility of content or an account;
• give you a warning;
• temporarily suspend your account; or
• permanently close your account.

For the most serious violations, like child sexual abuse material, credible threats of violence, or terrorist content, we'll act immediately and report to the authorities, without prior warning.

Telling you why. If we take action against your content or account, we'll tell you what we did and why, as set out in Terms of Service section 7.

Appeals. If you think we got it wrong, you can appeal by emailing appeals@142.social. See Terms of Service section 7 for the full process. (Note: removals for child sexual abuse material are not subject to appeal.)

11. How to Report Something

If you see something on 142 that breaks these Guidelines:

• Use the in-app reporting tool on the content or account, or
• Email us at support@142.social for general reports, or legal@142.social for illegal content or anything urgent involving safety.

You can also block or remove (unfriend) another user at any time if you don't want to interact with them.

We review reports promptly, fairly, and without bias. We'll take appropriate action and, where the law requires, let you know the outcome.

12. Changes to These Guidelines

As 142 grows and the world changes, we may update these Guidelines. If we make significant changes, we'll let you know in good time. The "Effective" date at the top always tells you the current version.
